Patrick Brownlee AGM Coordinator

Save-the-date-poster-3-72dpiHello everyone, It’s that time of year again when we are busy planning and organizing this year’s AGM and Skills Building. The meeting this year will be held in the east in Montreal, QC at the OMNI Mont-Royal Hotel. The theme for this year AGM and Skills Building is Woman and Children. To shake things up a little, we have decided to treat everyone to a diversity of voices that will address this year’s theme. Instead of our traditional keynote address, we have invited a stellar panel of presenters. Who are they? You will have to come to find out! Topics will range from woman’s rights to birthing and midwifery.

The skills-building workshops we have lined up this year bring myriad skills to our delegates. You can learn about the new CAAN Trans project “Sharing Our Wisdom: A Gender-Diverse project, with a Focus on Trans”; what to expect when you join a research team for the first time; and about the work being done in Canada right now to find a cure for Hep C. These are just some of the topics that will be covered over the course of a day and a half.

Our feast and awards night will be held off-site again this year in Kahnawake First Nation. This community is about 20 minutes outside Montreal. Transportation to the event will be provided for delegates wishing to attend. This year our cultural sharing will feature Inuit Throat Singers, a Métis Jigger, a hoop dancer and a drum group as well.

Please be aware that some projects will be holding focus groups and there are several committee meetings occurring over the course of our time in Montreal as well. Please keep an eye out for opportunities to make your voice heard!
