Background

CAAN and The AHA Centre are celebrating CAAN’s 20-year anniversary! Join us as we bring together our programs and research work by co-hosting the Bi-Annual Wise Practices VI Gathering and the Annual Skills Building Event. For the first time ever, programs and research streams will be held concurrently during our three-day event. It is an exciting time!

The Wise Practices VI CBR capacity building Gathering is a unique opportunity for Aboriginal People living with HIV and AIDS, community workers, government representatives, researchers and academics, health care providers, and community members to come together to share with each other and engage in a process of mutual learning. Participation in this event is part of our response to HIV and AIDS in Aboriginal communities and contributes towards improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people living with and at risk for HIV in Canada.

CAAN gatherings attract diverse participants who represent a variety of life experiences, identities, and backgrounds. Delegates will include representatives from regional Aboriginal AIDS service organizations, addictions services organizations, Aboriginal people living HIV or AIDS, health workers, researchers and academics from diverse backgrounds.

  • Abstracts should be prepared with this diverse target audience in mind and be written in plain and inclusive language.
  • Workshop abstracts should describe what practical and in-depth knowledge and skills will be presented and practiced.
