CAAN will be opening Indigenous AIDS Awareness Week in Ottawa with a sunrise pipe ceremony led by Elder Dr. Albert McLeod. We have partnered with the AIDS Committee of Ottawa, the Canadian AIDS Society, and the Ontario Aboriginal HIV and AIDS Strategy to attend the flag-raising ceremony on Parliament Hill and the AIDS Quilt Unfolding Ceremony. CAAN is hosting an event in Vancouver that honours Indigenous women, and will be broadcast for people to attend virtually. There will be in-person events held in Vancouver, BC led by CAAN’S Voices of Women. Please stay tuned for updates for details for these events.
